Terms of Service
Last updated 1 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Independent Driver (“the service”), a booking platform for private car service in metro Atlanta. By creating an account or booking a ride, you agree to them.
1. What this service is, and is not
Independent Driver is a booking platform. It is not a transportation company and does not employ drivers. Each driver listed here is an independent operator who sets their own prices, hours, service terms and cancellation policy, and who is responsible for their own vehicle, licensing, insurance and any permits their work requires.
There is no dispatch pool and no broadcast. You book a specific driver from that driver’s own booking link, and your agreement to be driven is with that driver. The platform’s role is to take the booking, hold the time, state the price and pass messages.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Sign-in is by emailed link or password; keep access to your email secure.
- The details you give must be accurate. A working mobile number is required before your first booking, because a driver needs a way to reach you.
3. Booking, prices and what you are charged
- The price you are shown is the price of the booking. It is calculated from the driver’s own rate card and recorded onto your booking when you make it. If that driver later changes their prices, your existing booking is not repriced.
- A deposit secures the booking. The balance is due after the ride, once the final fare is known.
- The final fare follows actual time, measured from pickup to drop-off and rounded up in 15-minute increments, subject to the driver’s minimum. It can therefore differ from the estimate if the ride runs long or finishes early.
- Rides longer than a single day carry an overnight fee for each full day block, shown before you book.
- Bookings are scheduled in advance. Same-minute and on-demand hailing are not offered.
- Pickups must be inside the service area — currently a 45-mile radius around Atlanta. A booking with a pickup outside it will be refused. Drop-offs may be anywhere.
4. Changes and cancellation
Cancellation terms belong to the driver, and the terms shown on your booking are the ones that apply to it — not whatever that driver may set later. Your booking page states them in full before you confirm and afterwards.
- Cancel far enough ahead, by the window your booking states, and the deposit is refunded in full.
- Cancel inside that window and the driver keeps the share their terms state. Some drivers offer no free cancellation at all; where that is the case, your booking says so plainly before you confirm.
- If a driver cancels, you are refunded in full whenever they do it.
- If you are not at the pickup and cannot be reached, the driver may record the ride as a no-show and keep the deposit. No further balance is charged.
- You may change a booking’s details before the driver sets off, and its time while it is still unpaid. Changing the time re-checks the driver’s availability and may not be possible.
5. Conduct
A driver may refuse or end a ride where they reasonably believe someone is unsafe, threatening, or breaking the law, and where they do, the deposit is not refunded. Do not use the service to arrange anything unlawful, and do not attempt to interfere with it, scrape it, or use it on someone else’s behalf without their knowledge.
6. Availability
We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, nor that any particular driver will be available at any particular time. A driver may become unable to make a booking; where that happens you are refunded in full.
7. Liability
Because drivers are independent operators, the conduct of a ride — the driving, the vehicle, and the insurance covering both — is the driver’s responsibility, and claims arising from a ride are properly made against that driver and their insurer.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the platform’s liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid for the booking the claim concerns. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. A change never alters the price or the cancellation terms already recorded on a booking you have made — those are fixed when you book.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Georgia, and the courts of Georgia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
10. Text messages
When you give your mobile number at booking, Independent Driver texts you about your own rides: confirmations, pickup changes, invoices and receipts. These are not marketing. How many you get depends on how many rides you book. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. Stopping texts does not cancel a ride; your driver and the booking page still have its details.
11. Contact
For anything about a specific ride, message your driver from the booking — that thread reaches them directly. For anything about the platform itself, email help@independentdriver.app.
